Teen prodigy Tyler Wright is at the forefront of the most exciting era women's surfing has ever seen.
Born into a dedicated surfing family, Tyler is making her mark in the surfing world having already defeated some of the top 17 female surfers on the planet and earned the critics’ praise as one to watch in coming years.
Tyler attracted the surfing world’s attention after she received a wildcard entry into the Beachley Classic after winning the Oakley trails in 2008. She went on and defeated some of the world’s leading surfers including Brazil’s Silvana Lima and ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, and claimed the biggest prize purse on the ASP World Women’s Tour. At only 14 years-old, Tyler broke a record for being the youngest winner of a CT event, both male and female.
Along with her maiden World Tour victory in 2008, Tyler won two junior events in 2009, being the Perth Sunsmart Pro Junior in May, and the Billabong Pro Junior at Bells Beach in October. She was part of a victorious Team Australia who regained the 2009 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Title in Salinas, Ecuador. Individually, Tyler won a gold medal for the U/18 Girls Title, giving her an immediate entry in the 2010 Roxy Pro Gold Coast Trials.

HOPES of a historic family double have evaporated at Bells Beach with Australia’s Tyler Wright losing the final of the Rip Curl Women’s Pro before her brother Owen contested his quarter-final against world champion Mick Fanning.
America’s 21-year-old world champion Carissa Moore defeated Tyler by 16.23 points to 15.77 in a repeat of last year’s decider.
The final was held immediately after Owen had snatched a last-gasp victory in round five of the men’s contest against Hawaii’s Fred Pattachia.

No brother and sister have won the same event on the world championship tour and Moore extinguished the prospect of it happening today.
